Small-Scale PV Plant + ESS Solution with Zetara Technology

Project Overview:

In this project, a small-scale photovoltaic (PV) plant integrated with an energy storage system (ESS) was implemented using Zetara technology. The system features a flexible and efficient design that supports multiple operational modes, including General Mode, Load Shifting, UPS Mode, Economic Mode, and Off-grid Mode, ensuring adaptability to various energy management needs.

System Configuration:
The PV array is connected to a high-efficiency inverter, which manages the energy flow between the PV panels, the grid, critical and non-critical loads, and the ESS. The integration of an RS485 communication interface enables precise real-time monitoring through a smart meter, providing comprehensive data insights for optimal energy management. The Zetara energy storage unit ensures seamless energy availability, particularly during grid outages or peak demand periods.

Equipment List:

  1. Battery System: 51kWh/102kWh cabinet supplied by ZETARA, featuring an integrated cabinet design for streamlined installation and operation.
  2. Hybrid Inverter: 400V, 25-50kW, built-in STS (Static Transfer Switch) and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch), with an integrated operable device display screen, provided by ZETARA.
  3. EMS Cloud Platform: Offers independent master account access, enabling robust energy management and remote monitoring, also supplied by ZETARA.
  4. Solar Panels: Provided by third-party suppliers, adjustable according to specific project requirements.
  5. Diesel Generator: Also sourced from third parties, with adaptability to project-specific needs.

Operational Modes:

  • General Mode: Standard operation where solar energy directly powers loads and charges the ESS. Excess energy is fed into the grid.
  • Load Shifting: The system stores excess solar energy during off-peak hours and discharges during peak times to reduce energy costs.
  • UPS Mode: Provides uninterrupted power supply to critical loads during power outages, ensuring operational continuity.
  • Economic Mode: Prioritizes energy use based on grid prices, enhancing cost efficiency.
  • Off-grid Mode: Allows the system to operate independently from the grid, ideal for remote or emergency scenarios.

Outcomes:
The deployment of this solution resulted in significant energy cost savings and improved energy security for the client. The system’s versatility in switching between operational modes enabled optimal performance tailored to varying grid conditions and load demands. Additionally, the integration of ZETARA’s advanced ESS technology enhanced the overall stability and sustainability of the energy supply.

This project demonstrates how ZETARA’s integrated PV and ESS solution can effectively support both residential and commercial energy needs, providing a reliable, efficient, and adaptable energy management system.
